Ranthambore National Park — Where Tigers Rule
Ranthambore National Park is one of India's most famous tiger reserves, located in Sawai Madhopur district, Rajasthan. Established as a National Park in 1980 and declared a Tiger Reserve under Project Tiger in 1973, it spans 1,334 sq km.
Tigers are frequently spotted in broad daylight against the dramatic backdrop of the 10th-century Ranthambore Fort — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Home to legendary tigers like Machli, Sultana, and Arrowhead.
The landscape includes dry deciduous forests, open grasslands, steep crags, massive banyan trees, and three lakes — Padam Talao, Raj Bagh Talao, and Malik Talao.
Go for a morning safari in Zone 3 or 4 if it's your first visit — the light near Padam Talao is magical and the tigers are most active. I've guided here for 12 years and it never gets old.

Ranthambore Jungle Safari
A gypsy or canter safari is how you truly meet Ranthambore. Run by the Rajasthan Forest Department, each drive takes you deep into the park with a trained guide and driver — close enough to feel the forest breathe.
The park's 1,334 sq km is split into 10 zones, and every one tells a different story. Some open to lakes and fort ruins, others to dense ravines where tigers rest in the shade. No two drives are ever the same.
A Day on Safari
A soft knock, a flask of chai. The jungle is still blue-grey and cool as you set off toward the gate.
Permits checked, engine humming. Alarm calls of chital echo somewhere ahead — the forest is already talking.
Fresh pugmarks on the track. Your guide cuts the engine. Everyone holds their breath. This is the moment you came for.
Cameras full, hearts fuller. Warm parathas and stories swapped over chai before the afternoon drive.
