About Ranthambore

Royal Rajasthan's Finest Tiger Reserve

Ranthambore National Park is one of India's most famous wildlife destinations, located in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. Famous for Bengal tiger sightings, historic ruins, shimmering lakes, and dramatic forest landscapes, it attracts wildlife lovers and photographers from across the world.

Once the exclusive hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur, the reserve became part of Project Tiger in 1973 and was declared a National Park in 1980. The ancient Ranthambore Fort — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — rises dramatically over the jungle, adding extraordinary cultural and historical significance to this destination.

The forest landscape is rich and varied — dry deciduous forests, open grasslands, rocky hills, ancient banyan trees, and multiple lakes create ideal tiger habitat. The park currently has a tiger population count of 92, making it one of the densest tiger reserves in India.
